Friends of the Mitta FOTM Annual Event

FOTM (Friends of the Mitta) hold an annual event. During the day it’s the Give Back volunteer day, where about 100 volunteers do environmental and maintenance projects along the Mitta and in Alpine National Park up here in the Anglers Rest area, as well as at Hinnomunjie Bridge. Projects usually include: invasive weed eradication, campsite maintenance, access road maintenance, trail maintenance and more.

It’s a really fun day of getting your hands dirty helping our patch. That evening we usually hold a fun party with live music, margaritas & beer, Mexican burritos, and a huge silent auction. This year it’ll be on Saturday, Sept. 28. The next day, Sunday, we do the “Fun Run” down the Mitta, where everyone heads downstream in rafts and kayaks, and there’s usually room for folks who’ve never been down the river before to go in a raft.
